A new astrobiology laboratory is set to be established at the educational and scientific center «Institute of Biology and Medicine» in Ukraine, which will serve as the foundation for the Astrobiology Center, according to KNU reports.
This initiative stemmed from a visit by Professor Charles Cockell from the University of Edinburgh, who is the director of the UK Center for Astrobiology.
The project is being implemented with support from British partners and aims to develop a new interdisciplinary field that combines biology, astronomy, geology, astrophysics, and other sciences.
Meeting participants at KNU emphasized that the future Astrobiology Center will provide a platform for international collaboration, new research, and educational programs that can engage talented youth and open new opportunities for Ukraine in the field of space technologies.
