The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have arrested five individuals suspected of organizing sabotage and preparing terrorist acts within the country.
According to the case materials, the criminals set fire to energy facilities and defense vehicles, and attempted to plant explosives under a military vehicle.
It has been revealed that the detainees were recruited by the enemy through offers of «easy money» on messaging platforms.
In Lviv, two agents were caught in the act while placing an improvised explosive device under the car of a Ukrainian soldier, intending to blow it up remotely.
According to the investigation, a 17-year-old boy and his 16-year-old girlfriend were involved in the preparation of the terrorist act, having received instructions from the occupiers.
The agents arrived in Lviv, retrieved the explosives, and set up a camera for remote monitoring.
In Kyiv, a 23-year-old local resident was arrested for setting fire to a relay cabinet on the railway.
Also, a 29-year-old man was detained for igniting a service vehicle of the Armed Forces.
In Volyn, a 14-year-old student was arrested for setting fire to a minivan belonging to a Ukrainian defender.
Based on collected evidence, the suspects have been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act by a group of individuals);
- Part 2 of Article 113 (sabotage during martial law);
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations);
- Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional damage to property by arson).
The offenders face various prison terms, including life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The operations were conducted by the SBU in Kyiv, Lviv, and Volyn in cooperation with the National Police and under the procedural guidance of the city and regional prosecutors.
