In the last week of August, Ukraine recorded 10,622 COVID-19 cases, with 14 individuals testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 passing away.

This information was shared on Facebook by the Center for Public Health.

"According to routine epidemiological surveillance data collected from healthcare facilities across all regions of Ukraine except for Luhansk and Zaporizhia, there were 10,622 positive COVID-19 cases reported during the 35th week of 2025 (from August 25 to August 31), which is a 46.2% increase compared to the previous week when 7,265 cases were registered. Additionally, there were 14 fatalities among those who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 during this week," the report stated.

The Center for Public Health noted that compared to August of last year, there were half as many COVID-19 cases reported in August 2025: 22,627 cases in August 2025 versus 45,500 cases in August 2024.

As of August 25, 2025, sequencing of positive clinical samples confirmed three infections with the Nimbus subvariant and 125 infections with the Stratus variant.

The Center for Public Health emphasizes that vaccination remains the most effective way to protect against any variant of COVID-19 and is available for free in Ukraine.
