Border guards from the «Velyatino» unit of the Mukachevo border guard detachment of Ukraine discovered fragments of a human skeleton in the Carpathian mountains, likely damaged by wild animals.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.

The skeletal fragments were found near the Romanian border, around Mount Frasin. Alongside the human bones, pieces of clothing, documents, a camouflage backpack, and a bag were discovered. The documents belonged to a 36-year-old man from Luhansk region, who was detained by the border guards in November 2023 for attempting to illegally cross into Romania. He was subsequently fined by the Khust district court. The cause of death will be determined by experts. The border guards informed the National Police about the remains found. Additionally, a human skeleton was recently discovered in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, but no identification documents were present.
