The Cherkasy police have arrested a man involved in a shooting at a cafe.

The suspect entered the establishment and fired several shots, wounding himself in the process, and subsequently locked himself in the restroom. The special forces unit, KORD, conducted an operation and managed to subdue him, with no other injuries reported. The injured man was taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred today around 11:00 AM, when police were alerted about the shooting on Smilyanska Street. A police operation was immediately initiated. Officers quickly evacuated patrons and staff and secured the surrounding area.

Within an hour, the shooter was apprehended by the KORD special forces. He is currently in custody under procedural law, and medical personnel are providing him with necessary assistance.

The Cherkasy police have opened a criminal case under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The motives behind the incident are being investigated.
