On May 27, Ukrainian soldiers celebrate SOF Day.
Greetings on SOF Day
Greetings were expressed by the Commander of the Special Operations Forces, Oleksandr Trepak, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov highlighted that SOF fighters undertake the most challenging tasks in critical conditions.
According to him, every SOF operation disrupts the enemy's plans and saves Ukrainian lives.
“The Special Operations Forces operate where precision and determination are required,” emphasized Umerov.
He referred to them as “legends of modern warfare, professionals who command respect worldwide.”
“I bow my head to the fallen heroes of the SOF. Thank you for your courage and skill. I wish you success in all your missions,” he added.
Greetings from Commander Trepak
Major General Oleksandr Trepak also congratulated his subordinates on their day.
“Today is a holiday for those who fight the enemy on all fronts. I am proud to lead the elite of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Trepak.
He reminded that May 27 was designated as SOF Day in honor of the soldiers who defended the Donetsk airport in 2014.
Trepak noted that today’s SOF fighters are “heirs of those who shaped the Ukrainian nation.”
“Your combat experience enables you to act in the toughest situations,” he added.
Trepak emphasized that the Special Operations Forces strike at the heart of the enemy, forcing them to retreat.
The Commander also urged to honor the memory of the fallen and support one another.
Greetings from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi
General Oleksandr Syrskyi called SOF soldiers “those who make the impossible possible.”
Syrskyi reminded that May 27 was established as SOF Day, linking this date to events of 2014.
“Your actions are always unexpected for the enemy,” he stressed.
