Celebrating Marine Corps Day: Heroism and Legacy

May 23 is Marine Corps Day in Ukraine.

Greeting for the Occasion

Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Neizhpapa, Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine joined in the celebrations.

General Syrskyi addressed the marine corps, highlighting the profound historical roots of this branch of service. He reminded that 107 years ago, Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi issued an order to form the first marine brigade.

Syrskyi noted that despite numerous challenges, the Marine Corps continues its fight against Russian occupiers. "Our marines have become a true shield of Ukraine, enduring assaults in Crimea and defending Mariupol," he stated.

He added that the Marine Corps is an integral part of Ukrainian identity, with a tradition that includes princely campaigns and Cossack victories.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that today's marines are true professionals, reliably defending their homeland. "The Marine Corps of Ukraine has always been, is, and will be, because we have something to protect!" he concluded.

Greetings from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense

The Main Intelligence Directorate also extended congratulations to "the warriors in sea-colored berets who guard our ports and conduct daring raids against the enemy."

They emphasized that marines are courageous fighters who demonstrate bravery in the toughest conditions.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, marines have been on the frontline, showcasing heroism in many battles.

"Eternal glory to those who gave their lives for Ukraine. We will always remember each of you," the greeting stated.

To those who are currently fighting, intelligence officers wished strength and resilience.

Message from the Commander of the Naval Forces

The Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine also reminded marines of their significance: "Your bravery is our pride. You are an essential part of our army!"

He called for honoring the memory of all who have died for Ukraine's freedom.
