In 2024, Ukraine ranked third among agricultural exporters to the European Union, with an export value of 13.1 billion euros, accounting for 6.7% of the total agricultural imports into the EU.
This information is reported by Delo.ua, citing Eurostat data.
Brazil was the leading supplier of agricultural products to the EU last year, with an 8.8% share and exports totaling 17.1 billion euros.
Ukraine is followed closely by the United Kingdom, which takes second place with an 8.5% share and 16.6 billion euros in exports.
In 2024, the total export of agricultural products from the EU reached 234.1 billion euros, while imports amounted to 194.9 billion euros, resulting in a surplus of 39.2 billion euros.
The main agricultural product suppliers to the EU in 2024 included:
- Brazil (8.8%, 17.1 billion euros);
- United Kingdom (8.5%, 16.6 billion euros);
- Ukraine (6.7%, 13.1 billion euros);
- United States (6.1%, 12.0 billion euros).
Compared to 2023, both export and import saw increases of 2.8% and 6.7%, respectively.
Between 2014 and 2024, trade volumes of agricultural products in the EU increased by 59%, with exports rising by 58% and imports by 60.2%, corresponding to average annual growth rates of 4.7% for exports and 4.8% for imports.
In 2024, the United Kingdom became the primary destination for EU agricultural exports, accounting for 23% of the total (54.0 billion euros), followed by the United States (12.8%; 30.1 billion euros), Switzerland (5.4%; 12.6 billion euros), and China (5.3%; 12.3 billion euros).

It was previously reported that in 2024, the main Ukrainian imports to the EU consisted of agricultural products, including grains worth 4.4 billion euros, animal or vegetable fats and oils (3.1 billion euros), and oilseed products (2.5 billion euros).
Compared to 2021, grain imports increased by 2.7 billion euros, while oils and fats rose by 1 billion euros, and oilseed meal imports grew by 1.1 billion euros.
Reports indicated that Ukraine's corn seed exports to the EU surged over 30 times compared to 2021, reaching a record 115 million dollars.
The main importer of Ukrainian corn seeds was France, which purchased 9,700 tons for a total value of 26.1 million dollars last year.
Additionally, it was noted that Ukrainian farmers had completed 76% of their planting work.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the harvest for 2025 is expected to be no less than last year’s.
