Fox News Mislabels Kyiv as Russian City During Easter Broadcast

image

Fox News made an error by referring to Kyiv as a «Russian» city during the Easter service broadcast.

The caption «Kyiv, Russia» appeared on screen while simultaneously airing a service from Russia featuring Vladimir Putin, alongside the service in Kyiv and coverage from Vatican City.

Initially, the Kyiv service was properly labeled as «Kyiv, Ukraine», but after a brief pause, the caption changed to «Kyiv, Russia».

The mistake was later corrected, but the erroneous label «Kyiv, Russia» remained on air for about 20 minutes.

Response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to the incident.

Spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy urged the channel to apologize for the error.

«If this was a mistake and not a deliberate political statement, an apology should be made and an investigation initiated to determine how this happened», he noted.
