Hungary Opposes EU Military Advisors in Ukraine

Hungary has voiced its objections to the potential deployment of European Union military advisors to Ukraine, linked to the existing training mission for Ukrainian soldiers. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto following the EU Council meeting.

The head of the Hungarian foreign ministry emphasized that the country is not participating in this mission and supports it only on the condition that training occurs outside of Ukraine. He pointed out that training Ukrainian troops by EU instructors on Ukrainian soil poses a serious risk of escalating the conflict.

At the same time, EU foreign policy representative Josep Borrell confirmed that the topic of the training mission was discussed, although details about the possible deployment of advisors remained undisclosed.

Borrell also noted that the mission has already trained over 73,000 Ukrainian soldiers.

Hungary continues to block the opening of negotiation processes regarding Ukraine's EU membership, despite Poland's efforts.
