The Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp has arrived in Lviv.

This was reported by "European Truth" through its outlet NOELreports.

The publication shared a photo of the minister laying flowers at the Mars Field.

"He paid tribute to the fallen Ukrainian defenders and intends to participate in a conference, hold working meetings, and discuss Ukraine's further European integration," the report states.

According to Dutch media reports, the Netherlands is assisting Ukraine in its European Union accession process. A conference will take place in Lviv on Saturday, which Minister Kaspar Veldkamp will also attend.

The lower house of parliament has urged the cabinet to help the Ukrainian government with the complex EU accession procedure. To become an EU member, a candidate country must meet the so-called Copenhagen criteria.

Representatives from six Dutch ministries have arrived in Lviv to discuss issues related to the rule of law, agriculture, energy, and social matters.

The conference in Lviv will take place annually, alternating between Ukraine and the Netherlands. Veldkamp will also speak in Lviv alongside Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna.

It should be noted that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a plan for Ukraine to implement the recommendations of the European Commission outlined in the candidate country progress report for 2024.

Ukraine is looking forward to the opening of the first clusters in the negotiations for EU accession. The European Commission has ambitious plans to open three negotiation clusters before the end of the Polish presidency in June 2025. However, this step is being blocked by Hungary, which is raising new demands regarding the rights of the Hungarian minority.
