Fedorov's Statement: "I am excited to announce a new service in "Diia" that I believe will be beneficial not just for veterans but for all citizens. This is the "Weapon Permit". I hope to launch it this month, as it is currently in beta testing".

Details: According to him, this will be a comprehensive service. It will allow users not only to apply for a permit to store and carry weapons but also to receive the necessary document for presentation when required.

"There will be no need to carry any other permits. Just the document in "Diia" with a QR code, as always," the minister stated, adding that the service will be available to all Ukrainians.

It is worth noting that shortly after the launch of the Unified Register of Weapons in 2023, it was reported that obtaining a weapon permit could already be done through "Diia".

The page for "Obtaining a Weapon Permit" has been operational in "Diia" since 2023 and remains active.

"Ukrainian Truth" has submitted a request to the Ministry of Digital Transformation for comments on the old and new services regarding weapon permits.

Background:

  • On June 23, 2023, the Unified Register of Weapons was launched in Ukraine, allowing citizens to obtain a weapon permit without visiting the National Police through the "Single Window for Citizens" or at a weapons store.
  • According to the National Police, there were over 1.4 million registered firearms in Ukraine as of the end of October 2024.
  • In August 2024, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bohdan Drapiatyi stated that Ukrainians might possess between 2 to 5 million unregistered firearms.
