Meta has announced the launch of an innovative voice dubbing feature for Reels videos. This technology utilizes generative AI to translate the user's voice while synchronizing lip movements.
To use this feature, users must select the "Dub your voice with Meta AI" option before posting their video. The tool generates an audio track with the translation, maintaining the original voice's tone. Afterward, users can enable lip synchronization with the translated audio.
Before publishing, creators can preview the outcome and decide whether to include synchronization. A notification indicating AI usage will appear in the translated video.
The feature is currently available to content creators on Facebook with over 1000 followers and to all users with public accounts on Instagram. Meta recommends using the tool in videos that involve direct camera addresses, without background music or mouth closure. The system supports up to two speakers, but the company advises against voice overlap.
Meta positions this new feature as a means to extend the content audience beyond the creator's native language. An effectiveness tool for translation has also been integrated.
Initially, the translation feature is available only for English and Spanish, but the company plans to expand language support in the future.
