Microsoft has announced that participants in the Windows Insider program using the Beta Channel will soon see a new tab in system settings, designed to simplify the configuration of the Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) feature.
A new page will be added under the "System" menu called "Recovery," which will grant access to crucial options in case of Windows boot issues. Users will be able to check whether the QMR feature is enabled, how often the system checks it, and adjust automatic reboots for applying fixes.
"Quick Machine Recovery is designed to help your device recover from common boot problems using recovery tools provided directly by Microsoft," the company stated in its blog.
The QMR feature was introduced in November 2024 to enable administrators to remotely restore Windows devices when facing critical errors. QMR will automatically search for fixes in the cloud and recover from common failures.
This feature is built on Startup Repair and utilizes a secure Windows recovery environment with network access to find solutions via Windows Update.
