Apple is planning to allow users in the European Union to change their default voice assistant, according to Bloomberg. This means that users will be able to select alternatives like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa instead of Siri.
Journalists Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett report that these changes will affect several software platforms, likely including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
This move is a response to new regulatory demands from the European Union, which require Apple to open its ecosystems to third-party solutions.
Previously, Apple had already allowed European users to set third-party applications as defaults for browsers, navigation, messaging, and other functionalities.
