Quote: "In the second half of 2024, we recorded a 48% increase in incidents compared to the previous half-year. The CERT-UA team notes a significant rise in the complexity of attacks and the sensitivity of targeted entities."
Details: It is noted that Russian hackers are actively implementing automation, employing supply chain attacks through software providers, and combining espionage and sabotage techniques.
The primary focus remains on intelligence operations, particularly attempts to access situational awareness systems and defense enterprises that could influence the operational situation on the front.
Analysts point out that in 2024, Russian cyber strategy has entered a new phase: larger, more complex, and better-coordinated campaigns pose a high threat level to critical infrastructure.
Despite this, due to improved cyber hygiene in Ukraine, enhanced early detection of threats, and close international cooperation, a significant portion of attacks has been halted at the preparation stage.
Background:
- On April 7, the State Special Communications warned about targeted cyber activity aimed at espionage against Ukrainian institutions involved in military innovation.
