A municipal non-profit enterprise «Military Sports» has been established in the capital, specializing in physical rehabilitation for servicemen, veterans, and their families. This decision was made today, December 12, at a plenary session of the Kyiv City Council.
As noted by Kyiv City Council member and chairman of the permanent committee on education, science, youth, and sports Vadim Vasyliuk, this initiative will address the urgent need for psychological and social adaptation of Ukraine's defenders through sports.
«This initiative is extremely important as it will support our defenders, helping them find new opportunities for recovery after combat, integrate into society, and become role models for the youth. We aim to demonstrate that caring for servicemen and veterans is our priority. The new enterprise will undertake a wide range of tasks, including organizing sports events for them, rehabilitation after injuries and illnesses through physical exercises, national-patriotic education for youth with veterans' involvement, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population», – emphasized Vadim Vasyliuk.
He shared that in 2023, sporting events for veterans have already been held in Kyiv with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Kyiv City State Administration, including the comprehensive event «Kyiv Unbreakable», a run under the chestnut trees, and «Military Recovery Sports», but this is not enough.
«The establishment of «Military Sports» is not just a new project developed in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Department, but an opportunity to expand the range of services and provide our defenders with systematic support. Involving veterans in sports activities will also be an important tool for overcoming stress, recovering from combat experiences, and popularizing sports among residents», – added Vadim Vasyliuk.
