During the Grand Prix Brno international swimming competition held in Brno, Czech Republic, Ukrainian athletes claimed a total of eight medals. This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
The standout athletes included Vadym Naumenko, Heorhiy Lukashev, and Maksym Ovchynnikov.
Vadym Naumenko was particularly impressive, winning gold in both the 100 and 200 meters individual medley events, along with a silver in the 200 meters freestyle. Heorhiy Lukashev added another gold by winning the 400 meters individual medley.
Ukrainian medals at Grand Prix Brno-2025:
- Gold: Vadym Naumenko (100 m individual medley); Vadym Naumenko (200 m individual medley); Heorhiy Lukashev (400 m individual medley);
- Silver: Heorhiy Lukashev (200 m butterfly); Vadym Naumenko (200 m freestyle);
- Bronze: Maksym Ovchynnikov (200 m individual medley); Maksym Ovchynnikov (100 m breaststroke); Maksym Ovchynnikov (50 m breaststroke).
Additionally, it is worth noting that World Aquatics has permitted Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international tournaments under a neutral status.
Recently, the passing of 101-year-old world champion and record holder from Ukraine, Heorhiy Chyzhevskyi, was announced.
