Recently, the 2025/2026 Ukrainian Hockey Championship kicked off. This season features five teams, including two from Kyiv. The participants are as follows:
- HK "Kremenchuk" (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
- HK "Sokol" (Kyiv)
- HK "Kryzhynka-Capitals" (Kyiv)
- HK "Storm" (Odessa)
- HK "Odeshchyna" (Odesa)
There have been some changes compared to last season. Unfortunately, the team from Kherson, "Dnipro", is not participating this time, but a new team, HK "Odeshchyna", has joined. An interesting situation has arisen with the vice-champion from Kyiv, the "Kyiv Capitals". With the permission of the UHF, the club has entered its main team into the Baltic Hockey League, while its farm club, "Kryzhynka-Capitals", remains in the Ukrainian Championship. This team consists of young players and those not making the first team.
Thus, Kyiv's "Sokol" played their first match against Odesa's "Storm" and claimed a comeback victory after trailing by two goals at one point.
"SOKOL" — "STORM" — 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0)
"KREMENCHUK" — "KRYZHYNKA-CAPITALS" — 6:1 (4:0; 0:1; 2:0)
"Kryzhynka-Capitals" will play their next match on Wednesday, October 15, against "Storm". Meanwhile, "Sokol" will face off against "Odeshchyna" the following day.
