Football for the Future: Bringing Children Home

Yesterday, a UPL football match took place in Kyiv between «Dynamo» and «Metalist 1925». Attending the game were children who had previously been deported or forcibly displaced by Russia, now returned home. The kids walked onto the field alongside players from both teams at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium.

According to the press service of the capital's football club, this is just one of the initial activities under the President of Ukraine's initiative, Bring Kids Back UA.

The primary goal of this initiative is to bring home all Ukrainian children abducted during the invasion that began in 2022. Currently, Ukraine has confirmed at least 19,546 such cases, but the real number is likely much higher - possibly over 1.6 million children, many of whom remain in temporarily occupied territories. To date, the Bring Kids Back UA initiative has successfully returned 1,656 children.

FC «Dynamo» (Kyiv) actively supports this initiative, demonstrating its readiness not only to provide symbolic support but also to engage as a permanent partner in collaborative efforts with the state, civil society, and international partners to conduct reintegration activities and initiatives aimed at bringing Ukrainian children home.

«For us, football has always been more than just a game, - said FC «Dynamo» (Kyiv) CEO Dmytro Brif. - First and foremost, it is our responsibility to society and our children. We will do everything possible to help bring Ukrainian children home, as they are the future of our country. We believe that children should grow up at home - in their own country, in families, under a peaceful sky».
