Former heavyweight boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko is set to run for the presidency of World Boxing, an international organization based in Switzerland. This news comes from Inside the Games.
The current president, Boris van der Vorst from the Netherlands, has announced he will not seek a second term, leading to presidential elections scheduled for late 2025.
The publication reports that three candidates will contest the World Boxing presidency: Gennady Golovkin, president of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Ukrainian Olympic champion Vladimir Klitschko, and Haris Mariolis, president of the Boxing Federation of Greece.
A final list of candidates for the World Boxing presidency will be released at least 30 days prior to voting, which will take place in November during the organization's congress.
