From September 11 to 14, the annual FIA World Championship took place in the Swedish city of Kristianstad at the legendary Åsum Ring — the most prestigious event in the world of karting.
Details of this success were reported by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City Administration.
The strongest racers from 45 countries and 5 continents lined up in the OK-Junior and OK-Senior classes. Representing Ukraine was Lev Krutogolov, who completed his first season in the adult class OK-Senior with the Italian team Energy Corse (where Lando Norris, George Russell, Alex Albon, and Kimi Antonelli also began their careers).
In the semi-finals, Lev put on a real show in the rain: he caught up with the leader on the last lap and executed a flawless overtaking maneuver, earning cheers from the crowd.
In the final, despite losing positions at the start, he managed to fight back and confidently finished third, etching his name in history — the first Ukrainian to stand on the podium of the World Karting Championship!
This was Lev's best race to date, and soon he will represent Ukraine at the FIA awards ceremony in Paris, where he will meet the world's top drivers — including top Formula 1, WRC, and WEC racers.
