The World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 20 years old is currently taking place in Samokov, Bulgaria. Ukrainian wrestler Egor Yakushenko from Kyiv has once again claimed the gold medal, reaffirming his champion status.
In his opening match, Egor defeated neutral wrestler Pavlo Savytskyi. He then successfully eliminated Uzbek Amirhon Berdikulov and Polish competitor Sebastian Varhol. In the semifinals, the Kyiv athlete triumphed over German Darius Kiefer, and in the finals, he overcame Iranian Hadi Akbar Seydi Avandi.
Thus, Egor Yakushenko has become the World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for the second consecutive time. In 2024, he also secured gold. Egor trains at the “Olympiets” sports club in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, under the guidance of coach Mykola Yelarinov.
