Renowned Ukrainian paddler Lyudmyla Luzan has claimed the title of World Champion in 2025 in her specialty – single canoeing over a distance of 500 meters.

In the final, she outpaced Canadian athlete Katie Vincent and Spanish competitor Maria Cobrero.

Final results:

  • Lyudmyla Luzan (Ukraine) – 2:01.27
  • Katie Vincent (Canada) – 2:02.5
  • Maria Cobrero (Spain) – 2:04.73

This victory marks Luzan's sixth world championship gold and her second at the current world championship in Milan, Italy. On August 22, she also triumphed alongside Iryna Fedoriv in the canoe double event over 500 meters.

It is worth noting that Luzan and Fedoriv won a silver medal at the European Championship in June in the same event – 500 meters in canoe doubles.
