Ukrainian Paddlers Shine at World Championships

Ukrainian paddlers have commenced their quest for medals at the canoe and paracanoe world championships currently taking place in Milan.

At the 2025 ICF CANOE SPRINT & PARACANOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Ukraine is represented by 27 athletes across all 24 disciplines.

On August 20, the first day of competition, our paddlers participated in 15 events, with three advancing to the finals:

  • Canoe singles, women, 500 m — Lyudmyla Luzan.
  • Canoe doubles, women, 200 m — Lyudmyla Luzan, Iryna Fedoriv.
  • KL2 paracanoe women, 200 m — Natalia Lahutenko.

Additionally, Ukrainian athletes reached the semifinals in 12 other events.

During the morning session on August 21, Ukrainians competed in six preliminary heats, with five of them advancing to the semifinals:

  • Canoe singles, women, 200 m — Lyudmyla Luzan.
  • Kayak singles, women, 200 m — Ivanna Dyachenko.
  • Kayak singles, men, 500 m — Oleg Kukharik.
  • Canoe doubles, men, 500 m — Taras Mazovsky, Andrii Ryabachok.
  • Kayak doubles, women, 500 m — Diana Rybak, Sniжana Stalіnova.
