Ukraine's top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, has spoken about her potential retirement from professional tennis.

Her statements were reported by The Tennis Letter.

"I don't want to play as long as Gael. I simply want to enjoy a happy retirement and not compete too much. It's very challenging for me to be on tour for so many years. Sometimes it can feel lonely.

There are tough moments. I have a lot on my plate outside of tennis and wouldn't mind stopping sooner than Gael," Svitolina shared.

It is worth noting that the tennis player is only 30 years old, while her husband, Gael Monfils, is 38.

Recently, Elina Svitolina concluded her performances at Roland Garros, losing to Iga Swiatek.
