Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurnyi has once again made headlines by winning a bronze medal at the 2025 European Championships in artistic gymnastics on the vault.

He secured third place with a score of 14.583, becoming the first medalist for Ukraine at this event.

The competition was won by Armenia's Arthur Davtyan, while silver went to British gymnast Jake German.

Results of the European Championships in Artistic Gymnastics

Arthur Davtyan (Armenia) – 14.799

Jake German (Great Britain) – 14.733

Nazar Chepurnyi (Ukraine) – 14.583

This is Chepurnyi's second consecutive bronze in the vault at the European Championships. This year, he also had a chance to medal in the floor exercises but finished fourth.

It's important to note that the Ukrainian team approached the tournament amid a major scandal. On May 6, it was revealed that the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation decided not to send Sartynskyi to the European Championship, leading to outrage among athletes.

The athletes announced a boycott of the competition, blaming Federation Vice President Stella Zakharova for systematically undermining men's gymnastics in Ukraine.

Sartynskyi believes he was sidelined from the European Championship due to his refusal to be influenced by the Federation. Zakharova, in an exclusive comment, accused Oleg Vernyayev of organizing the boycott against the Ukrainian team.
