Ukrainian Swimmers Shine at World Series in France

Ukrainian swimmers achieve remarkable results in France.

The Ukrainian swimming team participated in the sixth stage of the World Series-2025 held in Paris, the city that hosted the Paralympic Games last year. This marked the third stage for the blue and yellow team this season.

During the competition, the Ukrainians clinched six medals: two golds and four bronzes.

The standout athlete was two-time Paralympic champion Denys Ostapenko, who earned two golds and one bronze in Paris.

Ostapenko finished first in the 50m backstroke among athletes in classes S1–S5 and also became the champion in the 150m individual medley in classes SM1–SM4. Additionally, he secured third place in the 200m freestyle in categories S1–S5 and S14.

Another Ukrainian, Yevhen Bohodai, also achieved a bronze double, finishing third in both the 100m breaststroke and the 50m butterfly.

The fourth bronze for Ukraine was brought by two-time Paralympic medalist Ihor Nymchenko, who placed in the top three in the 50m freestyle.

  • "Gold": Denys Ostapenko (50m, backstroke, class S1–S5 + 150m, individual medley, SM1–SM4)
  • "Bronze": Denys Ostapenko (200m, freestyle, S1–S5 and S14), Yevhen Bohodai (100m, breaststroke, SB4–SB9, SB11–SB14 + 50m, butterfly, S2–S7), Ihor Nymchenko (50m, freestyle, S1–S14)

In the previous stages in Lignano Sabbiadoro and Barcelona, the Ukrainian team earned eight medals in the major finals (4 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze). Thus, the total number of medals for Ukrainian athletes this season stands at 14.
