New Green Spaces in Kyiv: Mini Parks for Relaxation

Across all districts of Kyiv, municipal enterprises have established new green spaces – mini parks. This was reported by the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration.

In creating these mini parks, the needs of residents and the actual requirements of neighborhoods were prioritized. For the second consecutive year, municipal services are implementing this initiative, and such green spaces are appearing where people lack areas for relaxation.

The greening of these mini parks focused on plants that are resilient to urban conditions, ornamental grasses, and perennial flowers that not only enhance the space but also contribute to improving the ecological state of the urban environment.

According to the acting general director of the Kyiv Greenery Company, Olha Manko, areas near public transport stops, metro stations, and densely populated residential complexes, as well as sites where small architectural forms (MAFs) have been dismantled, were selected for the project based on residents' needs.

“Our main goal is to create comfortable and accessible green spaces where every city resident can feel at ease. The mini parks are equipped with convenient benches, including barrier-free ones, pedestrian paths, and decorative landscaping,” emphasized Olha Manko.

Overall, during the autumn greening efforts, more than 100 trees, 16,300 flowers, 8,700 bushes, and nearly 9,000 grasses were planted across these locations, covering 7,000 square meters of lawns.

Locations where mini parks have been established include:

  • Holosiivskyi district – Volodymyr-Lybydskyi Boulevard (between Kazymyr Malevych and Antonovych streets);
  • Darnytskyi district – 36-38 Hryhorenka Avenue;
  • Desnianskyi district – 28 Miliutenka Street;
  • Dniprovskyi district – Almatynska Street (opposite house No. 101);
  • Obolonskyi district – Obolonskyi Avenue;
