In Kyiv, 18 new digital sports routes have been introduced to enhance active leisure. With the help of a navigation system, locals and visitors can not only train but also learn interesting facts about the city’s history and culture. This was announced by Oksana Hovorova, the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“These routes represent a significant step towards promoting active lifestyles. We aim for every resident to improve their psychological and physical well-being through activity,” she stated. Navigation for the routes will be installed in every district of the capital, featuring informational signs that guide users and lead to digital content. QR codes will allow users to listen to audio guides, as well as view 3D objects and VR tours. Special thanks to Adidas for supporting this project.
Currently, navigation has been set up on 10 routes, with another 8 to be completed soon. The routes were developed in collaboration with the mass sports association, taking into consideration the needs of runners. The Kyiv City Information Center digitized the routes and placed them on the tourism portal guide.kyivcity.gov.ua.
Examples of routes include:
- Holosiivski Hills;
- Obolon Run;
- Volodymyr Hill — Park Alley.
Each route features its own audio guide, accessible through QR codes on the information signs. The digital version also includes 10 3D objects and 5 VR tours.
The project was executed in partnership with Adidas, which provided navigation signs with QR codes that offer access to audio guides, 3D objects, and VR tours.
Additionally, it is worth noting that Kyiv has opened the first barrier-free sports complex in Ukraine. “LokoChoko” will serve as a new sports hub for the residents of the Solomianskyi district, where both children and veterans can train, as sports play a crucial role in recovery and psychological support.
