An extraordinary interactive exhibition featuring ancient prints from European thinkers related to Ukraine will take place at the Central Railway Station in Kyiv.
This was reported by Ukraine WOW.
For the first time, six rare editions from the 17th and 18th centuries will be showcased. Each of these publications serves as a priceless source of information about Ukraine during that era, covering military affairs, education, culture, and religion.
Excerpts from the ancient books will be voiced by prominent figures, including Taras Chmut, head of the "Come Back Alive" foundation, writer Serhiy Zhadan, military man Andrii Luzan, volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, traveler Anton Ptushkin, and historian Timothy Snyder. Their voices will bring to life texts from engineer and cartographer Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan (1651), philosopher Voltaire (1731), officer and diplomat Pierre Chevalier (1663), traveler Joseph Marshall (1772), pastor and historian Johann Herbinius (1675), and mathematician and cartographer Andreas Cellarius (1659).
The project is curated by Valentyna Bochkivska, director of the Museum of Book and Printing of Ukraine.
Original editions for the exhibition have been provided by the National Library of Ukraine and private collectors.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see the ancient prints and listen to excerpts starting from September 26.
The exhibition is organized by the public organization Ukraine WOW in collaboration with JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia". Major partners of the project include the "Aurora" supermarket chain, the largest marketplace in the country ROZETKA, and Visa.
A portion of the ticket sales will be directed to support the National Library of Ukraine, the Archaeological Museum, the National Natural History Museum, the Cherkasy City Archaeological Museum, the National Museum of History of Ukraine, and the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum.
The exhibition will run from September 26 to November 9 at the 14th platform of the Central Railway Station in Kyiv.
