The "Kyiv Digital" app has introduced a new feature that allows users to find and adopt stray animals. This special service consolidates information from all shelters in the capital.
This was announced by project manager Yuliya Ustych during a press briefing.
A new section called "Pet Adoption" has been added to the Kyiv services portal, offering convenient filters to narrow search parameters based on age, gender, and type of pet.
By clicking on an animal's card, users can view its photos and detailed information. The page also contains data about where the pet lives and contact information for its caretaker.
Those interested in adopting a pet can do so by clicking the "Offer a Home" button, notifying the caretaker of the desire to adopt.
Application reviews for adoption take up to three days. Once approved, interested adopters will receive a notification about the opportunity to meet the pet.
The transfer of the stray animal will be carried out according to the shelter's regulations from which it is taken.
Additionally, the "Kyiv Digital" app offers a function to save or share a pet's profile.
Currently, users can view profiles of hundreds of pets, including 32 cats and 68 dogs.
According to Oleksandr Voznyi, the director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration, there are currently over seven thousand animals in shelters in the capital.
"This number is constantly rising, especially due to military actions. Volunteers and military personnel bring in animals that are rescued daily, trying to find them homes in relatively safe Kyiv," he noted.
He added that the adoption opportunity is available not only to Kyiv residents but also to people from other cities and foreigners.
"We urge people to consider adopting rather than purchasing pets, helping those who have lost their homes and are in shelters," emphasized Oleksandr Voznyi.
Previously, we reported on the Kyiv adoption center Patron Pet Center, which gives new life to animals from the front lines.
