Employees of the National Police, BEB, SBU, and the prosecutor's office have uncovered a criminal group that produced and sold fake documents throughout Ukraine. The group members face up to ten years in prison.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
The criminal business was organized by a 27-year-old resident of Prykarpattia, who recruited others from different regions.
The assortment of forged documents included passports, driver's licenses, vehicle technical passports, and various institutional documents, including service IDs from the National Police, State Emergency Service, and SBU.
The cost of forgery depended on the complexity of the document and urgency. For instance, a driver's license cost just over 8000 hryvnias, while a foreign passport was around 2000 dollars. For 1500 dollars, clients could obtain a position as an SBU or National Police employee, with a particular demand for fake military tickets.
According to operational information, the criminals' monthly income reached between 2 to 3 million hryvnias.
The conspirators accepted and processed orders via Telegram and used one-day SIM cards to evade law enforcement attention. Shipments were sent through parcel lockers devoid of video surveillance and during nighttime.
Law enforcement conducted over 30 searches at the suspects' locations, discovering unfilled SBU, National Guard, Armed Forces, and State Emergency Service IDs, as well as official seals from various state institutions and passport templates.
