From Thursday night to Friday morning, December 26th, Kyiv is blanketed in snow. The city is finally experiencing winter.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
Currently, efforts are underway in Kyiv to clear the effects of the snowfall. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, 182 units of special equipment from "Kyivavtodor" are actively working on the streets.
The focus is primarily on clearing and treating main roads, bridges, overpasses, inclines, and approaches to public transport stops and crossings.
Additionally, 122 workers are deployed in 23 teams for manual clearing. Road crews are clearing snow and treating bus stops, narrow sidewalks, stairs, and approaches to both above-ground and underground crossings, along with other pedestrian areas where smaller snow removal equipment cannot operate.
On adjacent territories, snow is being cleared by the staff of management companies.
In parks and squares, snow is removed by specialized teams: 43 units of equipment and 673 workers are involved.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, on December 26th, ice is expected on the roads, with wind gusts of 15-20 m/s and blizzards.
"We urge drivers to be extremely cautious on the roads and maintain a safe distance. Pedestrians should also be careful and remember to wear reflectors at night," the Kyiv City State Administration added.
Today's Weather Forecast for Ukraine
According to the meteorologists' forecast for Friday, December 26th, the weather across Ukraine will be genuinely winter-like.
During the day - throughout Ukraine (except for the far west) - snow is expected. This will lead to the formation of ice on the roads.
At the same time, the temperature will change due to increased cloud cover, slightly easing the frost.
Thus, nighttime temperatures in Ukraine are expected to be between -4 and -9 degrees Celsius, while in the Carpathians and Pre-Carpathian areas, temperatures may drop to -13 degrees.
Meanwhile, daytime maximums across the country will reach between 0 and -5 degrees.
It is important to note that earlier the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported that a true winter chill is approaching Ukraine.
As a result, ice phenomena are expected to appear and intensify on rivers and shallow reservoirs, posing potential dangers.
Moreover, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center published a brief climatic description of the second month of winter in Ukraine and explained what January might look like in 2026.
