Safety in the Subway During Air Alerts

image

On the night of November 25, over 13,000 people, including nearly 900 children, sought shelter in the Kyiv subway stations during an air alert. This was reported by the Kyiv Metro Corporation and noted by the Kyiv City Administration.
The subway press service reminds that 46 underground stations are open 24/7 for shelter. The vestibules of all stations are accessible for entry, and personnel are present on the platforms to provide assistance and information.

To ensure a comfortable and safe stay in the subway during an alert, the company advises having the following items:

  • warm clothing, blankets, and mats (the average temperature in shelters is 17–18 °C, drafts are possible);
  • personal medications and water or a warm drink in a thermos;
  • hygiene products, including wet and dry wipes;
  • for pet owners — pads and bags.

The Kyiv Metro has urged residents to consider the comfort of others and to be polite to station staff, who ensure the uninterrupted operation of the subway in shelter mode and carry out daily tasks to keep the subway safe and convenient for passengers even after a distressing night.
It should be noted that on the night of November 25, Kyiv and the surrounding area experienced a massive combined attack of drones and missiles. Six casualties have been confirmed in the capital. Russian forces are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas, continuing to terrorize the peaceful population. Additionally, temporary restrictions have been placed on heating supply in the city.
