New Traffic Signal Experiment in Kyiv

Starting November 11, a new type of traffic signal known as the "Greek Cross" will be tested at the intersection of Volodymyrska Street and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard in Kyiv. This was announced by the Center for Traffic Organization.
"The experiment is part of the Road Safety Week and aims to enhance safety during left turns. This is the first such solution in Ukraine, borrowed from European practices," the organization stated.
An additional section with a red signal in the shape of an equilateral cross will be installed on the traffic light. When activated, this signal indicates that oncoming traffic is stopped, allowing drivers to safely make a left turn, the Center explains.
Thus, the "Greek Cross" traffic light section does not prohibit passage but rather confirms the possibility of maneuvering, as oncoming traffic is stationary at that moment.
"The experiment will last for two months. During this time, specialists will collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of the new system," the statement reads.
