In the capital of Ukraine, the main Christmas tree will traditionally be set up at Sofia Square. As in previous years, the city will not spend budget funds on the festive location — this will be covered by sponsors, as reported by the press service of the KCSA.
The initiative for creating a minimalist festive area comes from the company «GLOBAL-DECOR», which will take responsibility for the installation, maintenance, and dismantling of all structures, as well as all related resource and financial support.
According to the agreement with the Capital Defense Council, the main New Year tree, a small ice rink, and several stalls selling confectionery and hot drinks will be set up at Sofia Square.
The organizers are required to adhere to electricity usage restrictions and safety measures.
Preparatory works are scheduled to begin on November 8. The location will traditionally start operating on St. Nicholas Day — December 6, 2025. There will be no mass events held at Sofia Square.
Additionally, the Capital Defense Council recommends that local state administrations in Kyiv and other economic entities limit the holding of mass events in open locations during the celebration of Christmas and the New Year 2026.
It is worth noting that last year an artificial Christmas tree, 15 meters tall, was installed at Sofia Square, symbolizing a new beginning and a clean path, reminding of the renewal brought by Christmas and the New Year.
