A new social initiative called «Ukrzaliznytsia 3000» is set to launch in December, with ongoing work on technical details. This was announced by Ukrzaliznytsia's CEO Oleksandr Peretskovskyi during a press briefing.
Under the «Ukrzaliznytsia 3000» project, Ukrainians will have the chance to travel for free within a distance of 3000 km for four months during the low season, when train occupancy is lower.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, it is possible to offer up to 250,000 unoccupied seats on long-distance trains during this period, which the railway plans to utilize for the social program.
Initially, the focus will be on passengers from frontline areas. It is emphasized that no additional budget funding is planned for this program. The detailed mechanism is still being developed.
