Starting from October 5, 2025, a major renovation of Kharkiv Highway in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv has commenced, with a budget of 1.26 billion UAH, as reported by the contractor company – the "Avtostrada" group led by Maksym Shkil.

The renovation will cover a 5.4 km stretch from Darnytsia Square to Kharkiv Square, near the "Boryspilska" metro station.

Work has begun on the section from Kharkiv Square to Trostianetska Street on the odd side.

During the renovation, traffic will be organized in one lane in each direction.

The project includes a complete replacement of the road base, installation of a new multi-layer surface, updating of the stormwater drainage system, and the establishment of new bus stops and raised platforms at tram stops.

Bicycle lanes will be created along the entire highway, all underground crossings will be repaired and modernized, and a temporary parking area will be set up.

To reduce accident risks, dedicated left-turn lanes will be incorporated.

Tactile paving will be installed along the route, the curb height will be lowered, and the underground crossing near the Institute of High Molecular Weight Compounds of the NAS of Ukraine will be equipped with elevators.

The asphalting of this section is planned to be completed by the end of 2025, with the full scope of work to be finished in the first quarter of 2026.

Renovation of the remaining sections of the highway will continue throughout 2026 and most of 2027, until August, according to the work schedule.

It is worth noting that in the Kyiv region, the capital repair of the damaged overpass on the T-10-19 highway intersecting with the M-06 international road near Makariv is ongoing.
