New Regulations for Car Sales in Ukraine

The Ukrainian government has approved a new regulation mandating sellers of new passenger cars to provide official data on fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions to buyers. According to the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, this decision is based on EU norms that have been in effect for over 20 years in Europe. The initiative aims to offer consumers transparent information about the ecological and economic aspects of vehicles.

As per the new rules, car dealerships and other sales locations for new vehicles must include:

  • a label with fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions data next to each car;
  • a poster or electronic display with information on all available models;
  • promotional materials (brochures, advertisements, etc.) containing the same data;
  • access to an electronic directory with official information.

Additionally, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development will be responsible for creating and maintaining an electronic directory containing data on all new car models. This directory will be available on the ministry's website and will be updated annually.
The new regulations will come into effect 9 months after the official publication of the decree, allowing sellers time to adapt and prepare informational materials, while the Ministry prepares the electronic directory.
