The Ukrainian government has adopted a new decree aimed at improving the interaction with open data by creating a centralized portal.
This was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
«Open data refers to information collected by government bodies and made available to the public in a convenient digital format, excluding confidential information. This data may include information about budgets, transport, education, healthcare, or business registries. The most significant data of public value will now be consolidated into a new unified register,» the statement reads.
It is noted that this will enable citizens, businesses, and NGOs to more easily find the information they need and utilize it for analytics, service creation, or monitoring governmental activities.
The updated rules will also help government agencies work with data more effectively. They will receive clear guidelines on uploading information to the Unified Open Data Portal. This will make data more accessible to citizens while reducing the potential for abuse by officials.
As previously reported, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, YouControl, and the NGO «Open Data Association» (ASVIDA) have signed a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the fields of statistics, analytics, and digitalization.
