On the night of September 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the arrest of an individual suspected of murdering former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubiy.
Zelensky shared this news on social media.
"Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and Head of the Security Service Vasyl Maliuk have just reported the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Andrii Parubiy," noted Zelensky.
According to Zelensky, necessary investigative actions are ongoing.
"I have instructed to present all available information to the public. I thank law enforcement for their prompt and coordinated efforts. All circumstances of this horrific murder must be clarified," emphasized Zelensky.
Update: Later, Zelensky stated that he had a conversation with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
"He (Kravchenko) reported on further procedural steps regarding the suspect in the murder of Andrii Parubiy. There are initial testimonies from the suspect. Currently, further urgent investigative actions are being carried out to establish all circumstances of this murder," added Zelensky.
Previously, Zelensky assured that the investigation into the murder of deputy Andrii Parubiy is being conducted "virtually around the clock."
