Veteran Roman Kashpur from Vinnytsia has set two new records in Ukraine using a prosthesis.
This was reported by Natalia Zabolotna, the first deputy head of the Vinnytsia regional military administration, via Telegram.
“Roman Kashpur, our unbreakable defender, set the record for the fastest marathon completion on a prosthetic leg! His time at the Berlin Marathon was 3 hours 55 minutes 02 seconds,” Zabolotna stated.
She also highlighted that Roman became the first para-athlete to successfully complete all six prestigious world marathons on a prosthesis.
“He ran seven marathons in London, Washington, New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Chicago, and Boston. Four thousand kilometers on a prosthesis in just two years! He broke the existing Ukraine record four times at international marathons. Finally, his efforts have been rewarded!” - she added.
Zabolotna emphasized that Roman Kashpur is an example of incredible determination and resilience that all Ukrainians are proud of.
She wished the veteran to always keep his passion for life and thanked the coaches for their support and training.
Additionally, it was reported that the first national amputee football championship has started in Kyiv, showcasing the development of adaptive sports and the social reintegration of veterans and individuals with amputations.
