Today, August 30, Ukraine celebrates Aviation Day.
President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated aviators on Telegram, emphasizing that their work protects the Ukrainian skies.
"Aviation Day is a celebration for those whose work, dreams, and calling are in the skies. Military and civilian pilots, engineers, technicians – all of you are doing incredible work for Ukraine. Our sky is under your protection," — he noted.
The president expressed gratitude to everyone working for our safety and the development of Ukrainian aviation.
"We will do everything possible to ensure that the Ukrainian sky is peaceful and safe. Happy Aviation Day to Ukraine!", — added the head of state.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal remarked on Facebook: "Today, we thank everyone who helps protect our country in the skies: pilots, crews, and engineers. You are heroes, working daily to safeguard Ukrainian lives."
"Eternal memory to those in Ukrainian aviation who gave their lives for Ukraine. Their heroism will forever remain in our hearts," — Shmyhal noted.
He also thanked allies for their support in enhancing Ukraine's aviation capabilities.
"Dear aviators – you are the stronghold of our state. Thanks to your courage and professionalism, millions of Ukrainians can live and work," — emphasized Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko.
He stated that the bravery and selflessness of aviators save lives and instill confidence in the hearts of Ukrainians.
"You are the pride of the nation and a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian people," — the commander underscored.
Aviation Day is a professional holiday celebrated annually on the last Saturday of August, established by the presidential decree of August 16, 1993.
