In the Desnyansky District of Kyiv, efforts are underway to create better pedestrian crossings, making the city more accessible for everyone. The Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Transport Infrastructure reported that this year, municipal workers have lowered curbs at 29 pedestrian crossings.
“Additionally, tactile navigation has been installed for visually impaired individuals, new road markings have been applied, and the most damaged sections of the roadway and sidewalks have been resurfaced,” the department stated.
These improvements enhance road safety and contribute to the establishment of a comfortable environment for all pedestrians.
Recently, municipal workers also created a barrier-free space near the Administrative Services Center located at 29 Red Kalina Avenue.
They established barrier-free access to four public transport stops, created a parking area with designated spots for people with disabilities and their companions, and restored the sidewalk surfaces.
