For the first time, detailed information regarding areas for pet walking, as well as details on sterilization, vaccination, and tracking of stray animals in Kyiv, is now available.
The Unified State Web Portal has published two new datasets related to animal care and protection:
1) Data on the locations of pet walking zones, which include information about the placement of dog parks, the name of the landholder, and other crucial characteristics like operating hours and training infrastructure;
2) Data regarding the capture, sterilization, and identification of stray animals, including the microchip number, species, breed, gender, color, conducted medical procedures, and details about the capturing entity.
“Publishing data about stray animals is a tool for transparent accounting and public oversight of sterilization and vaccination efforts. Additionally, this data will provide insights into the population of stray animals in the city and serve as a basis for further analysis,” stated Sergey Saburov, acting director of the Environmental Protection Department.
Currently, the dataset contains information on 4,947 stray animals.
“Having designated areas for pet walking is an essential aspect of urban infrastructure. They foster a new culture of interaction between people and animals in the city and enhance the daily comfort of Kyiv residents,” added Sergey Saburov.
The data sets were prepared by the Environmental Protection Department in collaboration with the Kyiv City Veterinary Medicine Hospital, coordinated by the Information Policy and Public Access to Information Department of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The Kyiv City Administration continues to enhance open data, ensuring their relevance and ease of use. Stay updated on changes on the Kyiv City Administration page on the Unified State Web Portal: https://data.gov.ua/organization/kyivska-miska-derzhavna-administratsiia.
