A coalition of 30 nations, including Japan and Australia, has been working for several months on a proposal for security guarantees for Ukraine.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with Fox News.

«Over the past few months, under the leadership of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, the group has been developing a concept of security guarantees for Ukraine following a long-term ceasefire or, ideally, as part of a comprehensive peace agreement», Rutte noted.

He added that the specifics of how the United States will be involved in these security guarantees will be discussed in the coming days.

«We need to discuss more details about these security guarantees», emphasized the NATO Secretary General.

Rutte also referred to the willingness of the United States to participate in security guarantees for Ukraine as a «real breakthrough».

According to him, the current discussions are about security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5, although the details are still being negotiated.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky recently met in the Oval Office with American leader Donald Trump in a bilateral format. During the meeting, Zelensky expressed hope that American and European leaders would help find a diplomatic solution to end the war, and he anticipates a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, the USA, and Russia.

Additionally, there was a meeting in an extended format involving the presidents of the USA and Ukraine, along with European leaders who came to Washington to discuss ways to conclude the war in Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated during her visit to Washington that European leaders, together with the US president, are working to put an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine.
