By the end of 2025, Ukraine aims to restore 3.2 GW of energy infrastructure, reported Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.

“We need to complete the repair of 3.2 GW of capacity by the end of 2025. Most of it has already been restored, and we hope to finish all works by the end of this year,” she stated during a project presentation of the government's action program in Kyiv, as reported by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

Hrynchuk emphasized that significant attention is being paid to the protection of energy facilities, including strengthening air defense, with various stakeholders involved in this effort.

According to her, key priorities include the maximum repair and restoration of energy facilities, accumulation of natural gas and coal, development of distributed generation, and protection of the energy sector in preparation for the 2025/2026 heating season.

The head of the Ministry of Energy also noted that Ukraine needs to accumulate at least 13.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas by the start of the heating season. She added that during 2025, 600 MW of distributed generation – both gas and renewable energy – will be introduced, and by the end of the year, approximately another 800 MW is expected: 350 MW in the public sector and around 500 MW in the private sector.
