Ukraine has successfully tested the innovative Starlink Direct to Cell technology, allowing direct satellite communication without the need for antennas or additional equipment, relying solely on 4G and SIM cards.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel.
“Ukraine has become one of the first countries in the world to implement Starlink Direct to Cell technology — direct satellite communication without antennas and extra devices. The testing was conducted by First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the CEO of Kyivstar, Oleksandr Komarov. By autumn 2025, Kyivstar plans to launch the first phase — the ability to send SMS from controlled areas of Ukraine. During wartime, when the enemy deliberately targets energy and communication systems, and some communities risk becoming information islands, such technology is a matter of not just convenience but also safety,” she stated.
