In central and southern Iraq, a significant power outage has taken place, and the country has started to gradually recover.

This has been reported by Reuters citing sources.

According to sources from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, a sudden outage at the Hamidiya power plant in the western province of Anbar caused a disruption in the power transmission network. Meanwhile, temperatures in the capital Baghdad reached 47 degrees on Monday.

"An emergency power shutdown occurred in the transmission lines today, leading to widespread outages in the national grid," stated Deputy Minister of Electricity Production Mohammed Nehme.

The government added that relevant services have begun to gradually restore power supply, and it will be fully restored within the next few hours.

The head of Iraq's parliamentary energy committee stated that the power outages did not affect the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

Many Iraqis have relied on private generators for years, as government-provided electricity has only been available intermittently. Some others have switched to solar energy to meet their electricity needs.
